Hectares BC is a collaborative project created under the BiodiversityBC partnership http://www.biodiversitybc.org/EN/main/who/236.html.
BiodiversityBC and the Nature Conservancy of Canada provide the HectaresBC Application as a public service under the following terms and conditions:
The purpose of HectaresBC is to improve access to summarized, integrated, geospatial data about British Columbia for the interest and information of any interested party, and to deliver timely, consistent analysis and response to users with a minimum of intervention by geomatics professionals.
The data contained in HectaresBC was gathered from many sources and are protected under applicable copyright and other proprietary rights. HectaresBC users are granted a non-exclusive license to use some or all of the content of HectaresBC for their own personal, non-commercial and informational purposes only, provided such material is not altered and ownership of the material is expressly attributed to the original data custodian or any other person to whom the ownership of the material is properly attributed. Results of analysis conducted through HectaresBC should be credited as such. Any other use of content found in HectaresBC is strictly prohibited. The metadata for each map layer contains information regarding ownership of the data content found in HectaresBC.
Hectares BC is the not the authoritative source for any of this data – the original data custodian should be contacted regarding questions or errors relating to specific datasets.

By launching this application, users recognize and accept the limitations of HectaresBC. When viewing content, data is generalized and become more precise as the area being viewed is reduced. Analysis results displayed on-screen are approximate and generalized to optimize response time – follow the instructions on-screen for full resolution results. Users further recognize and accept that that some content or analysis from HectaresBC may not be suitable for all uses and that some experimentation may be required to achieve appropriate or consistent results for your analysis.
The HectaresBC Project team recommends that users exercise their own skill and care with respect to their use of this application and that users carefully evaluate the accuracy, reliability, currency, completeness and relevance of the content on and analysis from the application for their purposes. Use of HectaresBC is not a substitute for independent professional advice and users should obtain any appropriate professional advice relevant to their particular circumstances.
